Mary Scribner, BSN · Certified Parent Coach

Who I am

Mary ScribnerI am a strong and persistent advocate for families. My passion is to support parents to feel empowered, while gaining skills, fresh perspectives, and new experiences that will help them to parent with more joy and satisfaction. In my experience as a community health nurse, support group facilitator, parent coach, and mother of a challenging child, I have first hand understanding of the challenges parents face as they navigate their environment to help their children succeed. As a parent of a highly sensitive child, I have learned to appreciate the gifts and strengths that children bring and not allow labels to define them because of their differences.

What I believe

I believe parenting is one of the most important endeavors of our lives. I believe no-one knows our children like we do. I believe that as parents we already have undiscovered, within us, the wisdom, answers, and vision it takes to be the parent we’d like to be.

In today’s world of media culture, hectic schedules, and competing demands, we are expected to work, provide for our families, and raise our children without adequate support. As we look outside ourselves for answers, we find traditional and family values being replaced by popular culture. We struggle on without our more traditional support systems of extended family and community. It doesn’t have to be that way.

Parent coaching is a process that can bring us in touch with what we already know, make sense of what we are learning about our complex world, re-connect to our individual and family strengths, and make decisions and set goals based on our individual family values.

What you can expect from our coach experience

Together we will enter a process that will focus on your unique situation. We will develop a relationship built on trust, mutual respect and understanding. I will provide you with relevant information based on sound parenting strategies, collective experiences that work, and the latest in brain development/behavioral research. I will question you gently, challenging and encouraging you to reach your highest aspirations. As the result of our conversations, you can expect to gain new perspectives, and insights along with the possibilities of change. Collectively we can identify and set goals based on what your dreams are, all the while feeling hopeful now and for the future. You can expect that we will laugh together and appreciate the creativity as we build what you want in your life.

My credentials and expertise

For over 20 years I have endeavored to address the unique needs of individual families with parenting challenges.
